1999- Toyota MR-S

MR-S is the sports car of opening 2 seater of a midship layout, and was put on the market in November, 1999. It is the model which inherited the spirit of MR2 which existed conventionally and was born again newly. It considers as a 2450mm long wheel base to the full length of 3895mm, and light sport driving can be enjoyed conjointly with light weight around 1000kg.
Engine is the level which can be said to be the lightweight 1.8L. BEAMS engine which adopted the variable valve timing mechanism, and to pass enough for MR-S of a lightweight body although power is 103kW (140ps) standard high mechanical twincam.
Sporty feel is made by the tuning with front and back of strut type suspension harder.
Although it was a setup of only a 5speed MT model at the beginning of sale, the sequential MT vehicle was added in August, 2000. This can enable shift operation, without performing clutch operation, and can also operate automatic-transmission car limited license.
Small improvement added the indicator of a front fog lamp to a line crack and all cars in December, 2005, and also the rear fog lamp non-equipping vehicle changed arrangement of the brake lamp in a rear combination lamp, and a taillight.
